New Year’s Resolutions for Business Owners

Create a Blog and Blog Often

While you may be playing catch up to business owners that created blogs in 2015, blogging in 2016 may be in your best interest. Currently, approximately 77% of internet users read blogs and companies that have blogs generate approximately 126% more leads than those businesses that do not blog. Lastly, blogging allows businesses have more, up to 97%, inbound links than those companies that still do not blog.

Upgrade Your Website

There are a variety of updates that you can do to your site, and it is up to you (and your marketing team) to decide which changes will be the most beneficial for your individual business goals. However, one update you may consider is to update your website’s speed. According to recent research done by Umbrellar, 40% of consumers will abandon a webpage that takes more than 3 seconds to load and roughly 47% of consumers expect webpages to load in less than 2 seconds. In essence, if your site speed is too slow, you’ll lose business in 2016.

Start Using Video Ads

It’s no surprise that YouTube, Facebook, and Bing, offer a variety of video options for advertisers. Yet, in 2016, you may want to consider using video paid advertising as Google seems to have recently jumped on the bandwagon. In September, Google stated that TrueView campaigns would be a part of the AdWords interface so that you can use AdWords bulk tools on all of your campaigns—you don’t have to jump back and forth. Because Google is allowing video ads into the search results, we may assume that Google is forecasting an increase in video paid advertising for 2016.

Think For Mobile, Not Desktop

Due to the fact that mobile traffic was more popular than desktop traffic in ten countries in 2015, as well as the fact that Google released “Mobilegeddon,” you should invest your money in mobile-focused marketing. It is common knowledge that Google’s “Mobilegeddon” algorithm penalized sites that did not contain mobile friendly content. While the implications of the algorithm were not as detrimental as expected, it still led to business gain for those with mobile friendly websites and business loss for those without. This New Year make resolutions that will allow your business to succeed in 2016. Developing and updating your marketing strategy based on current trends can help you reach your business goals this year.
